'Overboard' is the fourth single to be released from 'LIMBO', following 'IVRY' and 'FIREWORKS' and 'Could We Just Talk In Instead' which have garnered press and radio support from Pigeons & Planes, The FADER, BBC Radio 1 and more.

'LIMBO' is the stunning debut mini-album by Miles From Kinshasa. Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and raised in the UK, Miles From Kinshasa (aka Vivien Kongolo) is a South London based singer, multi-instrumentalist and producer making an infectious, self-crafted style of music he calls Rumba-pop, fusing R&B and pop with influences from around the world. 'LIMBO' is available to pre-order now.

Written and recorded with almost no budget over the last 12 months in a South London council estate bedroom, 'LIMBO' is a purposely lo-fi, DIY affair. Foregoing expensive studios and extensive collaborations, the project is a deeply personal offering, guided from start to finish by Miles From Kinshasa at his own pace.

On 'LIMBO' Miles From Kinshasa chronicles what it's like to be a twenty-something, grappling with life's uncertainties during one of the more unstable eras in history. He explains – "Millennial existential crisis', relationship issues, spirituality, duality, mourning, fear of adulthood, belonging, religion. These feelings of not knowing what to feel, what to think, what to do, who to be, what to believe in, who you will become. The project poses questions that are still trying to be answered rather than trying to impart some kind of realisation or post-adolescent wisdom. Laying in LIMBO demands patience you may not possess yet in order for you to overcome and heal. Hold tight, endure your wait."

Miles From Kinshasa debuted his live show towards the end of 2016 with support slots for Kelis, RAY BLK and Baloji, as well as festivals including Tramlines and The Great Escape. Today Miles From Kinshasa announces his first ever headline show at Bermondsey Social Club on 18th October, tickets are are available to buy here.

#Smarterhiphop submission Music Submission by @JaaeKash - Way Up (Music Video)

JAAE KASH - WAY UP

MUSIC VIDEO

Hello ,

My name is Jaae Kash and I'm a big fan and follower of your website: Smarter Hip Hop. Over time, it has grown to become a trusted online community for both artists and music lovers. I'm a motivational hip-hop artist who uses thought-provoking tunes to inspire and promote healing, self-awakening and love. I'm a relatively new act out of Los Angeles, California but my lyrics are bold, edgy, and yet positive and uplifting. I make music for everyone and I'm pretty happy with how my fans have responded.

I'm reaching out to you to find out if you may be interested in my music which has had some pretty good responses from music lovers so far. You should check out how excited they are about this music video here. My purpose as a Hip-Hop artist is to reach out, motivate, and uplift people while spreading the message of peace and unity to our nation when we need it most.

My new single "Way Up" has been released on popular websites such as YouTube (https://youtu.be/OP8AEoNcHQc), iTunes, Spotify and a host of other sites via the web. I've attached a link directing you to everything here.

I hope you can use this and help spread the word about my music; I can provide more details if needed. I'll follow up in a few days to see if you might have any questions or information for me.

Thank you very much!

With Love,
Jaae Kash

#smarterhiphop submission New > Listen > Hagan - 'Roots' EP > out now on Push & Run

Hagan
'Roots' EP
(Push & Run)

Out Now!

https://soundcloud.com/pushandrun/sets/hagan-roots-1-9-17

UK indie Push & Run follow up an excellent recent EP from Canadian producer Benjamin Munoz with 'Roots' — a new four-track record from London producer, 'Hagan'.

With previous releases on breakout club labels like Beat Werk and Strut Records, Hagan has spent the last few years honing his sound, which is inspired by a mix of Funky, Afrobeat, Baile Funk and more recently, Gqom. "The EP brings me back to the origins of why I started making music", he explains. "It references a sound that focuses on dark, percussive and afro-influenced drum patterns that draw on minimalist grooves."

The nifty, quick-fire drum work on opener 'FWD' open the EP at electric pace, while second track 'Detect' comes correct with booming, lo-slung bass and bubbling, Funky rhythm. Keen to zone in on the concept of returning to his 'Roots', Hagan's title-track zips in and out of experimental club territory, fusing new-skool industrial pressure with killer Afro-rhythms, with final joint 'Aburi' landing as a thumping extension of his early Funky productions.

Backed by DJs like Murlo and Champion over the years, Hagan's recent time in the studio has clearly benefitted his sound, with 'Roots' set to land as his most thoughtful and accomplished work yet.
