Canadian rapper/singer Kato was born in Montreal, QC to parents of Ugandan descent. Born Julian Kato, he was raised by a family who provided early exposure to rnb and pop music, which he would go on to subtly mix with his own influences such as Jay-Z and 2pac. A natural lyricist, Kato freestyled with neighbourhood crews before he started crafting original songs himself. His first venture into hip-hop was recording music with friends in home studios throughout his high school years spent in Toronto. After graduating Kato moved around constantly working on his craft while experiencing many obstacles along the way. Finally after dropping his first single "Thirsty" and an upcoming project in the works titled "Last Winter" it's clear the future looks bright for this up and coming star.

Thirsty is a new wave club banger that in small circles is referred to as 2019's Lean Back

[Minneapolis, MN - January 22, 2018] - Machine Entertainment Group's rising star, SKNY, released his new track "I Got" (Machine Entertainment Group/The Orchard) on friday. SKNY's long-awaited single is accompanied by the premiere of the Rubin Lowe-directed official music video, premiered via WORLDSTARHIPHOP - WATCH HERE.

On the new track, SKNY says, "Chase threw that beat on, shit 30-mins later we had the track done and was on to the next one. Everybody was turnt when we played it back. But the rest of the night everybody just kept saying "I got, I got". We knew we had something that would stick in people's heads"

Minneapolis rapper SKNY has always repped the Twin Cities in his rhymes. The high top fade-wearing rapper transformed his hoop dreams of balling for the NBA into studio sessions at 15, and sharpened his skills by attending the High School for Recording Arts in Saint Paul, MN.

On his 2016 debut album Welcome Home, SKNY opted for low-key party records. Despite the popularity of "Wassup Wit That Wassup" on Vine (it garnered 1.3 million listens on SoundCloud) and an R&B remix from a then-underground Post Malone, SKNY admits that the track wasn't a true depiction of what he can do on the mic.

For this follow up project - with the first single "I Got" - SKNY promises a more music to turn-up to, albeit with a more introspective focus on who he is as an artist. With tracks featuring Chicago stars G Herbo and Valee, SKNY is poised for a big 2019.
